Tom's Still Got It

.... and so much of it !!!
Tom Jones rocked Abu Dhabi on Friday night, delighting old fans and converting new ones. With his 70th birthday looming, that incredible voice is still booming, and from the very first song he had the audience in the palm of his hand. We sang along to all the old favourites "Hard to Handle", "Mama Told Me", "Delilah", "She's a Lady", "Kiss", "It's Not Unusual".... and it was great to hear tracks from the new album.
It was the first concert to be held at the National Exhibition Centre and what a tremendous venue. We had seats in the gallery - a raised tier behind maybe 20 rows of level seating, which afforded an excellent view of both the stage and the two huge screens either side. It was easy to get in and out, and well-organised once there.
With that ash cloud hovering over Europe, we hear that Tom and the crew have enjoyed a fantastic four days hospitality at The Emirates Palace Hotel - apparently the most pleasurable catastrophe they have ever experienced. Hopefully that warm glow will stay with them and they won't leave it so long before booking a return date.
