You cannot fail to be impressed by the amazing feat of engineering that is Burj Dubai and tonight the eyes of the world's press will once again be on Dubai for what promises to be a spectacular launch event. Starting at 5pm, the fireworks are scheduled for 8-ish.... this is Dubai.... There is great excitement amongst those invited to attend, and many will be heading for the area to capture the moment, tempered by the odd dash of cynisism; we can only expect the whole roadwork in the area to grind to a halt so I'd recommend an early arrival & patience for anyone going along. http://www.expatwoman.com/forum/messages.aspx?TopicID=91206

I'll be at home some 10km+ away, but given the nature of the event, sure to catch the fireworks regardless. The NYE fireworks over the Burj al Arab gave us a good show on the horizon and this can only be better.
Today also marks the opening of the Burj Dubai metro station; one step further towards reducing the number of cars on the road and providing quick, safe and clean public transport for commuters.
Congratulations to everyone who has worked on the Burj Dubai project. What a great way to start the new year.
